Once upon a time, a man named Frederick Sayen traveled the world collecting seeds from places like England, China, and Japan.
He brought them back to Hamilton, NJ where he had built a bungalow-style home on his 30 acres of land.
With the seeds he collected he grew a breathtaking garden with an array of flora that now draws a crowd every spring.
Today it’s known as Sayen House and Gardens.
Visitors show up to be dazzled by over 1000 azaleas and 500 rhododendrons and more than 250,000 flowering bulbs.
Every May on Mother’s Day weekend guests take part in the annual Azalea Festival at Sayen House and Gardens.
The rest of the year at the gardens is just as stunning with an abundance of annual and perennials showing off among the walking trails, fish ponds, and gazebos.
Some even say that the landscape feels like being in a Monet garden painting, transforming you into another place entirely.
