Kate and Bryan Engagement Session Allentown NJ

Engagement Session Allentown NJ

We were once again back at the barn in Allentown, NJ for an engagement session. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love these two. When I met Kate and Bryan I knew they were the sweetest people ever. I cannot begin to tell you how EPIC this engagement session was.

This had to be one of the most fantastic engagement session to date. After many times of back and forth, we finally found a beautiful day of weather and the perfect sunset for what we were trying to accomplish. I think we hit this engagement session out of the park! The smoke bombs were a huge success, and the barn never ceases to amaze me with the images. No matter where we went, no matter what pose we did, or even what outfits they wore, Kate and Bryan were amazing for their engagement session. We had a ton of laughs, and the way their love story was captured, is like none I’ve ever done before.

We started at their Alma Mater, Northern Burlington High School, on the baseball fields. Bryan played for the team during his high school days, and that was a place where it truly all began; about 15 years ago. They wanted to focus a lot on the barn and the grounds there, so we moved kind of quick through the baseball photos and got to work as soon as we arrived at the barn. We spent a total of three hours shooting together, and it was a blast!

I delivered their engagement session gallery on Zoom the other night, they were both in tears, and even Bryan admitted he was crying and secretly holding it back.

Kate and Bryan met in high school, but as Kate puts it, “however, we do not have your ‘typical’ high school love story.” When Kate told me how they met, I laughed out loud!!

Flashback to 2005 in the halls of Northern Burlington Regional High School, Bryan was three years younger than Kate. He was a sophomore, and she was a senior. Bryan was a lot shorter back then. When she would see him in the halls, he was a lot timider, but she certainly noticed him. She says it was when “he developed his undying love for her.”

Flash forward ten years, Bryan moved on to play professional baseball for the Visalia Rawhide, Southbend Silverhawks, and the Missoula Osprey, which are all affiliate teams of the Arizona Diamond Backs. Kate had become a kindergarten teacher at John Hydock Elementary School in the same classroom that Bryan sat in back when he was in first grade. Cute right?

Kate was out one night, and she saw him with some friends. He was a very different person than the little sophomore that she knew in high school. “I just remember feeling an overwhelming attraction towards him.”

She was intrigued, but she didn’t overthink it. Now, if you ask me, that underlying attraction from years ago is getting hot and heavy.

In 2018, Bryan reached out to Kate through social media and asked to go a date with her. Kate was hesitant to start anything due to past relationships, but she did promise Bryan that she would get drinks with him. But, for two months, Kate avoided Bryan’s messages, but he was quite persistent. But the day they met is quite hilarious! This is how Kate put it.

“The day we actually MET, I went into the bar, which I knew he worked part-time. I had my friend check to ensure he wasn’t working so that I could avoid him, even. Little to my knowledge, the shifts were about to change. Sure enough, Bryan walked in for his shift. When I was in mid-sentence with a chicken wing in my mouth as he screamed, “Kate Fehn? In my bar ?” I almost died. And the chicken wing fell out of my mouth.”

I think that is the best “how they met” story ever, stuff you cannot make up!

The night they met in the bar, Bryan made it even harder for her to see him again. This time she felt like she had no choice. “So much of my heart was telling me to but being hurt SO much from many past relationships; I was scared to let down my walls.”

This is a part Kate asked me to include for all of you to read, so I am going to let her tell this part.

“My grandma and I were extremely close…she passed a year before Bryan, and I started dating, but she had a love with my grandpa that was like the notebook. True and real. I always wanted that and prayed for that. She told me I would find him and that I would by “stumbling into him at a bar.” She knew. It is such a massive part of our story because I did stumble into that bar that day, and wasn’t supposed to.”

A few days later, on the eve of Thanksgiving, Bryan asked what Kate had planned, and being the stubborn girl that she is, told him she wasn’t sure. Meanwhile, she wanted to spend it with him all along.

“He is patient – he is kind- and that night, he put his arm around me, and I felt safe. A different kind of safe which I’d never felt before. From that night on, we were inseparable.”

Kate says it was hard to tell when they actually fell in love. They knew right away that they were each other’s soulmates. They had become meshed into one as soon as they finally did meet. “He has had my heart since day one, and he has given me his”

I don’t know about any of you reading this, but this is love working its magic most uniquely.

So Kate and Bryan actually had two proposals. Not for the reasons that you are thinking. His first proposal didn’t go as he had hoped. So when he got the chance to give her the proposal of her dreams, he had done just that.

“The first proposal was not how either of us had ever imagined, so Bryan, being the extremely creative, caring and thoughtful person that he is wanted to do something to make it up to me; to us (even though I never needed anything more). On New Year’s Eve, he set up an entire arrangement at our favorite local winery.”

“He had rose petals and votive candles lit everywhere. On each wine barrel was a framed piece of our love story to what led us to the moment of our proposal while our favorite songs were playing on repeat. It was the most romantic and thoughtful proposal ever – and so very special.”

I asked Kate and Bryan what they were most excited about for their wedding day, and this is what they said “Getting to pronounce our love for each other in front of everyone that we have loved and who have always loved and supported us.”

I genuinely think that is what a wedding is supposed to represent! It isn’t all about the glitz and the glam; it’s about the pure love that we are celebrating on someone’s wedding day!

Thank you so much for allowing me to be apart of your special day! Our relationship has blossomed into a beautiful friendship, and I cannot wait for your wedding day! I know this time hasn’t been the easiest. With everything that is going on, I am so excited to be going on this journey with both of you! Your engagement session was a dream, and I am happy that we have the opportunity to work together. Kate and Bryan will be tying the knot at The Estate at Eagle Lake in October 2020.
