Engagement Session Historic Batsto Village NJ
Like I said in a previous blog, Historic Batsto Village is going to be a spot that isn’t going to disappoint. Well, Jess and William’s Engagement Session Historic Batsto Village NJ was amazing for the first time shooting an engagement session. This place has so much to offer and with a morning session, some places can be hit or miss. The weather really makes a huge difference and with us being close to Halloween and nearing the middle of the fall season, the fog that morning with Jess and William all-black look set the scene perfectly.
One of the outfits Jess wanted was a look with an all-black dress and Will in a black button shirt. I usually like doing that during a sunset or dusk setting, but the sunrise fog and peeping sunlight was perfectly timed for this session. The small village of houses that Batsto has adds so much variety to the images and gives beautiful texture to the images. The rustic look truly works well for a fall session. I highly recommend using this location for a moody engagement session. Engagement Session Historic Batsto Village
Jess and William are big Halloween lovers, so they wanted to incorporate the Halloween franchise into their engagement session. Coincidentally, Will’s last name is Voorhees, the same last name as the main character from the Halloween movies. They even found a sign at a Spirit Halloween store that is used in the movies of Camp Crystal Lake. I even got a little creative and used the mask they brought as a perspective piece.
Finally, we ended with a beautiful fall outfit look. We were approaching the time of day where the sun gets too high in the sky to make for beauty in photos, so we were limited in where we could go. We stuck to simple and more relaxed poses. We were nearing the time of it being just about long enough to shoot and we got all we needed, but I made sure to give them enough variety with their third outfit. I usually end my session with ring detail shots and this fall I have been incorporating leaves into ring details and the stuff is coming out beautifully.
A little back story of how I met these two lovely people. I met Jess and Will when I ran a free engagement session contest earlier in the year. We hit it off great and they were interested in booking me for their wedding on the call. I was so excited to work with these two especially since their wedding is going to be on Will’s family’s farm and they’re gonna have Alpacas. I mean come on, who doesn’t love Alpacas, especially for your wedding portraits. Engagement Session Historic Batsto Village
I am honored to call these two friends and I am so excited to see where their love blossoms from here. I cannot wait for the wedding. Congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Voorhees. Jess and WIlliam will be tying the knot at Hidden Spring Lavendar Farm in June 2021.

HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
“On August 17th we went to the Summer Swelter in Pitman with our friends. After walking around and tasting all the breweries Bill asked me which one had been my favorite that day. The 13th Child had a blueberry beer called Blues at Sunset and it was amazing so I said let’s head back there, on the way we stopped at another few breweries and Bill disappeared for a minute but I didn’t think much of it.”
“So he comes back and says lets head over to 13th Child, I go up to get my beer first and as I turn around he’s getting down on one knee asking me to marry him. Of course I burst into some drunk tears and said Yes!”
