How to Look Your Best at Your Engagement Session!
So you’re probably wondering what you should wear for your engagement shoot. Not everyone has their own personal stylist, so I am here to help. I get the questions about clothing options for photoshoots all the time. Here are my 3 best tips for looking like the bomb.com for your next engagement shoot!
Compliment your Fiancé’s outfit
Now of course you can say all the wonderful compliments to your fiancé about how they are dressed, but what I mean is compliment the colors of what your fiancé is wearing. Usually the women picks what they are wearing first and then the man matches. I like to use the word compliment instead of match so that you and your fiancé aren’t showing up looking like twins to your engagement shoot. Complimenting your fiancé’s color choice allows for some wiggle room with what you wear. Neutral colors are always a good go to. Black, White, Beige and Grey are all good colors to use as a compliment color to what your significant other is wearing. Muted shades of blue, yellow, green, red and pink are always a great choice if you are looking for a color to wear. Stay away from colors that POP! Florescent colors or colors that are “in your face” are not a good choice. You definitely don’t want to stick out like a soar thumb.
Chose your outfit based on your location
Couples always ask what they should wear before they pick their location or they pick a location and then are not sure what to wear.
Always do your research of the location you are choosing. Try find out what is around the area, what colors are used on the buildings and grounds of the location, and what the weather is going to be like during that time of year to help you get a better understanding of what to wear. Also, being familiar with or knowing someone who is familiar, with the location is a bonus.
Adding your own flare and comfortability to your outfit
You always want to be comfortable and feel like yourself when you are picking out your outfit for your engagement session. Adding your own little flare to your outfit is what I ask my couples to do. Show off who you truly are through your photos. Adding sunglasses, hats, scarves, and jewelry will only make your outfits look better! Bowties and suspenders are always fun to add as well.
If you are still unsure about what to wear, don’t hesitate to reach out to your photographer for some help with your outfit choice, they are usually a good person to ask!
